Warm to End, Warmer to Start

We'll close out the year of 2013 with a day warmer than yesterday. This despite the colder morning to start. Lows reached down into the 20's across the metroplex for yet another freezing night. This makes 19 freezes for the month, not a record but close:

Since the growing season ended the DFW airport has logged two dozen freezing nights. That's a record number:

A warmer day in store for us today as the winds turn to the south later this morning. We'll have highs reach into the low-50's.

Plenty of sunshine for the metro area and north but the clouds will likely stay over our southeast corner, from Corsicana to Mineola and south. If you are out for New Year's Eve festivities it'll be mild and dry, not bad weather for a winter night:

This time of year it's no surprise to have a cold front sweep over us every 3-4 days. We get warm before it arrives and stay cold for a few days in its wake.

Another arrives tomorrow night, but before it comes it a brisk south wind will get us into the 60's for the New Year.

We'll have a couple of cooler days (and freezing nights) to close the week. For the first weekend of 2014 it'll be two different days. The first one on Saturday will be warm and windy, highs around 60 but mostly cloudy. On Sunday a cold front brings in some rain; it'll be a cloudy, windy and cold day with highs only in the low 40's. Here is your extended forecast:
