Warm November Weather Equals Storms

Warm windy weather in the second half of November usually means storms are on the way. Such is the case for our weekend with storm risks increasing as get to Monday night.

First tonight. It'll be balmy, breezy evening with temperatures falling through the 70's, very nice night for the time of year. We'll include a slight chance of storms after midnight with the best chances centered on Paris and Bonham (around 40%). The chances are low elsewhere, only around a 20% chance in the metroplex.

SUNDAY: AFTERNOON AND EVENING STORMS

Clouds skies tomorrow with a gusty south wind and temperatures again in the upper 70's. Storm chances start to show up tomorrow afternoon and there is a risk of severe weather. We are watching the position of an approaching cold front carefully, strong storms around and north of the frontal position are expected by later in the day. The storm risk includes the metroplex; damaging winds and large hail will be the main threat. We are expecting about a 40% coverage of storms by afternoon and evening, the Storm Prediction Center puts all of north Texas in the "Slight" risk category (the area in yellow; the black cluster of dots show the DFW population center):

The front is forecast to stall while the main energy from the pacific moves over on Monday. We are expecting clouds skies and highs in the mid-70's.  The arrival of the upper level low on Monday will increase the heavy rain and storm chances for north Texas, especially by Monday night. Again, here is the Storm Prediction Center outlook, this time for Monday:

Monday night's rain chances are pegged at a full 80%, we are expecting a heavy rain to accumulate along the Red River counties:

The rain/storm threat continues all the way into Tuesday morning. Then the cold front that's been lingering over north Texas finally moves east and sweeps away the rain and the warm weather. November is a month where the temperatures bounce around, no exception here. After three nights of lows in the 60's we are expecting HIGHS in the 60's on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

THANKSGIVING FORECAST

Wednesday and Thursday morning will be good travel days for north Texas and most points within a day's drive. By Thursday afternoon we are expecting an afternoon high in the upper 60's and mostly sunny skies with a north wind. Not  bad weather for late November tailgating around Cowboy Stadium.

BLACK FRIDAY RAIN, SATURDAY COLD WINDS

Another cold front arrives late Friday or early Saturday. This system could have some punch to it. Highs will reach into the low 70's on Friday but we'll put storms in the forecast by evening and late night. Some huge northwest winds are expected on Saturday behind the front, clearing out the skies but keeping afternoon highs in the upper 50's.
