Virtual reality is a relatively new thing.
There's a simple way to experience it these days with something called Google Cardboard.
You can put together s simple virtual reality viewer out of cardboard. Then play virtual reality videos and completely immerse in them.
This video shows what happens when a grandmother experiences a roller coaster using just that and a smartphone.
