Vandals Strike Carrollton Cars Again

CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Two days in a row, vandals struck Carrollton neighborhoods, damaging more than a hundred cars.

After a massive spree breaking windows Saturday morning, police believe the same group returned to slash tires Sunday.

"I think it's terrible they haven't got anything better to do," said Bonnie Wojack, 90.

The vandals smashed the rear window on her son's new Scion Saturday.

"But this morning, he was really upset," she said.

That's when, she says, he woke up to find someone had come back to flatten his tires.

"Last night, 2 o'clock in the morning, my wife sat up in bed, said, "I heard something pop outside'" said Don Tripp, who lives several blocks away.

Hours later, a police officer knocked on their door to let them know, all four tires on Tripp's truck had been punctured.

Police say surveillance cameras both nights captured what appeared to be the same white Toyota Camry, carrying a group of young men as they target cars parked on neighborhood streets.

Police say, they damaged 91 cars Saturday morning and another 16 Sunday morning.

That's despite a team of officers dedicated to catching them.

"We did step up patrols in the area. We also had a deployment of 5 detectives in plain clothes,. They were in that neighborhood," said Carrollton Police Commander Doug Mitchell

Wojack says, she will also be on the lookout. Just beware.

"I'd probably want to slap 'em. Yea, I probably would. Now that wouldn't do much good, I know. But I would," she said.

Carrollon police are confident the vandals have caused more than $20 thousand dollars in damage, making this a 3rd degree felony, punishable with 2-10 years in prison.
