TxDOT: $2B In Additional Funds For Construction
AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - North Texas officials are pleased to get word from Austin of an additional $2 billion for highway construction in the state.
The Texas Department of Transportation says the state is getting the money from Washington for transportation projects. According to Fort Worth City Councilman Jungus Jordan, many North Texas projects could be in line for up to one fourth of that money.

Jordan is also chairman of the Regional Transportation Council.
The money is meant to speed up some road projects to relieve congestion. The council says projects that will get the highest priority are ones that will relieve current congestion problems.
Local officials will give the state their priorities, although Interstates 35E and 35W are expected to top the list.
Jordan says the $2 billion will be leveraged into even bigger money.
