DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The extreme heat is being blamed for the deaths of two people in Dallas County.

Zach Thompson with the Dallas Health and Human Services says two men, ages 43 and 50, were found dead at their homes.  Both died from heat stroke as well as other medical conditions.  The men had been working outside when they succumbed to the heat.

Thompson says this should serve as a warning.

Thursday's high reached 99 degrees in Dallas. Temperatures could eclipse the 100-degree mark on Friday.

Thompson says it takes the body some time to get used to the high temperatures.  He encourages everyone to check on neighbors, especially the elderly often and drink plenty of water. He says if people in Dallas County have no working air conditioner, they should contact the Dallas County Health and Human Services.

This was the third-hottest June on record in North Texas.
