ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM ) - Three Arlington detention officers were fired after the death of a man in custody.

Jailers Pedro Medina, Wes Allen, and Matt Fisher are accused of not helping Jonathan Paul the night he died.

Paul was picked up on outstanding warrants last March and was acting erratic inside his cell. He was restrained, then pepper-sprayed and suffered a fatal heart attack.

Medina and Steve Schmidt, another jailer, were charged with criminal negligent homicide.

Schmidt retired during the investigation.

Sergeant Frank Vacante was also suspended five days for not adequately supervising.

A total of 10 employees were investigated by the Arlington Police Department regarding the death of Paul. Five of the 10 employees were exonerated during the process.
