Threatening Note Puts Colleyville School On Lockdown

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A high school in the Grapevine-Colleyville school district was placed on lockdown Tuesday after a suspicious note was found during the lunch period.

The principal at Colleyville Heritage issued a letter to parents explaining that a student found an anonymous note in the cafeteria. Administrators said it contained a "very vague" threat against the school so they contacted authorities.

District spokeswoman Megan Overman said, "This afternoon Colleyville Heritage High School was put into lockdown at the request of the Colleyville Police Department, which is investigating an anonymous tip of a potential school safety concern that was discovered this afternoon."

Colleyville police said they erred on the side of caution and made the lockdown request and though there have been no threats made to other schools also placed nearby Heritage Middle School and Heritage Elementary School on temporary lockdown as well.

After several hours the lockdown was lifted and students were released at the regular time of 3:25 p.m.
