ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Thousands of Arlington ISD students and their parents came out Saturday to AT&T stadium for the back-to-school backpack give away.

Along with the free backpacks stuffed with school supplies, students in attendance received free haircuts and immunizations.

AISD spokeswoman Leslie Johnston said, "We have 64,000 students in Arlington, and we are about 70 percent economically disadvantaged."

The event was put together by area churches in Arlington as well as numerous charitable organizations including the Dallas Cowboys.

Johnston added, "It's really important for students to feel like they are ready for school."
