THE STREAK IS OVER!!!
THE STREAK IS OVER!!!
This gust front that came across DFW has dropped temps into the 80s. Before the front got to the airport the high was only 96. It is very unlikely we will recover back up to 100 degrees this afternoon so the Streak has ended at 40 days in a row of 100 degree weather! This is the second longest streak on record, just behind the 42 in a row set in 1980.
This gust front has generated winds up to 35 to 40 mph behind the front leading to a lot of blowing dusts. You can see it in the sky with the haze and brownish coloring to the air. Unfortunately very little rain has fallen. There were a few heavy downpours in Wise County from a thunderstorm that collapsed as it moved into Tarrant County. Decatur saw nearly .75" of rain. A little rain fell in west Fort Worth and northwestern Tarrant County but not much.
There could be a few areas of light rain this afternoon across the metroplex, but not much. Overnight could see another storm complex try to roll into North Texas. And yet another opportunity for rain will be with us tomorrow and Saturday. Both rain opportunities will be dependent on storm clusters starting to our north and diving southward. Temperatures will be cooler with the cloud cover and possible rain around. Highs on Friday will be at 100. Saturday highs will be at 98.
