Texas Tech Looks To Improve Defense From No. 114
LUBBOCK (AP) Tommy Tuberville is so ready for his second season at Texas Tech.
The first year at any new program is tough, and the former Auburn coach was following the successful, turbulent run of Mike Leach. The Red Raiders went 8-5, capping the season with a 45-38 bowl win over Northwestern.
More passing is expected this season, and junior Seth Doege is the likely starter at quarterback. Texas Tech wants to shore up a defense that finished near the bottom nationally after surrendering nearly 460 yards per game.
The Red Raiders open the season Sept. 3 at home against Texas State.
