DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police are investigating claims made by a state representative that he was involved in a hit-and-run crash and that the department took too long in responding.
On Twitter, representative Rafael Anchia said he was hit by a wrong-way drunk driver on Douglas Avenue. He claimed that he called 911 after the accident and received no response from Dallas police after one hour.
Anchia then tweeted that he called 911 again. He said the operator told him an officer was almost at the location and then hung up before Anchia could finish talking.
The Dallas Police Department said it is reviewing the incident to ensure that all communications procedures were followed.
"The Dallas Police Department will make every effort to mitigate incidents in the most efficient manner, so that the quality of service and timeliness of response meet or exceed the expectations of the public," read a statement.
