LA VERNIA, Texas (AP) - A South Texas school bus driver has been cited for going too fast when the vehicle missed a curve, hit a fence and left a passenger hurt.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Wednesday that 65-year-old Lyman Lyro was cited for unsafe speed in the wreck near La Vernia.
Lyro was removed from his driving duties with the La Vernia Independent School District following Tuesday morning's accident.
Trooper Jack Johnson says Lyro said there was a distraction with some children, he looked up and wasn't able to manage the curve.
The bus carried Lyro and four students. One child was treated for a minor injury.
No publicly listed telephone number could immediately be located for Lyro.
La Vernia is 20 miles east of San Antonio.
