Rangers To Hold 'City Of West Night'
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Texas Rangers will host a number of residents and first responders from West, Texas at the team's 'City of West Night' on Saturday, July 6.
The team is expecting nearly 1,000 individuals from West to attend the game, which will be played against the in-state Houston Astros.
There will be a moment of silence to honor the 15 individuals who lost their lives as a result of the April 17 fertilizer plant explosion.
The event will include a pre-game picnic, followed by on-field ceremonies with participation from City of West officials and first responders. West residents will also present the National Anthem and Color Guard.
West Mayor Tommy Muska will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Czech Dance Group will also perform prior to the game.
The team will wear a "SUPPORT WEST" patch on their jerseys, which will be raffled to raise funds for the continuing relief efforts. Raffle tickets will be available at the stadium on July 5 and 6.
