Texas Finally Has Running Game To Please Brown

AUSTIN (AP)  Texas has finally found the tough running game coach Mack Brown has been aching for.

The Longhorns are averaging nearly 220 yards rushing per game, their best mark since the national championship season of 2005. With freshmen Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron leading the way, Texas pounded out 441 yards last week in a 43-0 win over Kansas.

That kind of success moving the ball on the ground can relieve a lot of pressure on freshman quarterback David Ash and wear defenses down.

Texas (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) plays Texas Tech (5-3, 2-3) on Saturday. Texas Tech gave up 368 yards rushing last week in a loss to Iowa State and ranks among the worst rushing defenses in the country.
