DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Nearly four weeks after 34-year-old Dallas mother Marisol Espinosa went missing, there was a renewed sense of hope on Saturday. For the first time, Texas EquuSearch, a nonprofit organization with more than 15 years of experience in missing persons cases, joined in the search effort.
Texas EquuSearch organizers met with Dallas Police Department officials and identified Lawn View Park in south Dallas as the location to focus their efforts.
However, a day that started with so much hope ended just as the past 26 days have, with no clues to Espinosa's whereabouts.
"Yes, we are let down a lot," Espinosa's aunt, Veronica Walls, said. "It's going on four weeks this Tuesday. It's disheartening. The turmoil my sister is going through is heartbreaking. But we are not going to give up hope."
Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, understands the family's struggles. He founded Texas EquuSearch in 2000 after the abduction and murder of his daughter, Laura. "This is the very worst time that the family has ever been through," he said. "So, maybe we can bring a little bit of comfort that they are not alone in this, and bring some things to the table that haven't been brought yet."
Miller said that volunteers with Texas EquuSearch will conduct additional searches for Espinosa, likely later in the week.
Espinosa's ex-boyfriend, Faustino Valdez, the last person to have reported seeing Espinosa, was not at Saturday's search. He has not been seen for three weeks.
