Texas A&M Student Critically Injured By Train
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Authorities in Central Texas say a 19-year-old university student has been critically injured after being pinned underneath a freight train near campus.
Texas A&M student was in critical condition Thursday following the Wednesday night accident. College Station police say the man was crossing the tracks that run through the campus when he was struck by the 102-car freight train. Officers found the student conscious and breathing beneath the train.
He is being treated at St. Joseph hospital in Bryan. His identity hasn't been released.
Police say they found no evidence of foul play and believe the incident was accidental.
A Union Pacific spokesman says the train was traveling from Arkansas to Baytown and that no hazardous materials were on board.
