AUSTIN (CBS11) - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has hired a lawyer.

Paxton has been the subject of an ongoing securities investigation and special prosecutors are ready to move forward with one of two cases.

Paxton has hired Joe Kendall, a former federal judge and now Dallas area attorney.

Prosecutors will bring a first degree felony case against Paxton when they present to the grand jury in August.

Prosecutors say the second case will follow a few weeks after that."

A conviction could bring anything from five years probation to life in prison.
