HASLET (CBSDFW.COM) - A teen in search of a stolen package says she tracked down the thief and confronted him.
Tristen Anderson, 18, came home Tuesday expecting to find a newly-delivered cell phone at the door.
When she didn't see it, she checked security video and saw it delivered.
About an hour later, video shows a man stopped by to drop off a flyer.
"He turned and looked at the package as he left," said Anderson. "Three minutes later, he comes back. He goes straight for the package."
Anderson said she searched the neighborhood, spotted a pair of men, and after watching from a distance eventually approached them in a public area.
"I knew if anything happened all I had to do was scream," she said. "I said 'there was a package taken from me at 10:30 this morning.' And he said, 'no, we don't do that.' He insisted they don't do that. I said, 'well, you might not have, but somebody took it. I have it on camera and it's a guy with the same satchel that you're carrying'."
Anderson says the men called out their boss, who investigated other workers in the area and returned with the guilty party.
"I'm so sorry, m'am. He did take your phone, and he did take your package," she recalls him telling her.
Anderson said she got her phone back.
"I asked him, why did you take it? And he didn't respond to me. He was, I guess, nervous," said Anderson.
He wasn't the only one in trouble.
Anderson said her parents weren't happy she'd confronted a potential thief.
"I'm not scared, which can sometimes be a bad thing," she said. " I just don't want this to happen to anyone else."
The owner of the advertising company encouraged the family to call Fort Worth Police, but later hung up on a CBS11 reporter. The family said officers did not immediately respond because the situation wasn't an emergency, but they are investigating.
