Tasha's To Do List: Jan. 8-11

This is right up my alley. A Beer vs. Wine Smackdown tonight (1/8) at Scardello Artisan Cheese. It will answer all of life's most important questions like what truly is cheese's best partner? There will be five rounds, each consisting of one cheese, one wine and one beer. Then there will be a vote and a winner.

You love the dude and you can enjoy him and all his great lines in tonight's (1/8) The Big Lebowski Quote-Along at Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson. They've subtitled all of your favorite lines and they'll even have a giant-sized bowling game on stage before the show.

He saved his kid, then he saved his wife and now he is out to save himself. Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills is joined by Forest Whitaker in theaters tomorrow (1/9) with Taken 3.

This Saturday (1/10), you can get your TOOL on…as in Tool tribute "Toology". Check them out at Trees.

There is no Kilderry involved but you can check out The Killdares. If you don't get what I said go brush up on your Finian's Rainbow tunes. If you love Celtic rock, be at the Kessler Saturday night (1/10).

Auditions for volunteer lane performers (actors and musicians) for Scarborough Renaissance Festival's performing company will be held this Saturday, January 10 at the Waxahachie Civic Center 9 am – 12 noon and 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

I know it is cold as all get out but it is never too early to start planning out that front yard for spring. The Texas Home and Garden Show this weekend (1/9-11) at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas will cover it all: Gardening, Home Improvement, and Interior Design.

This Saturday's (1/10) Discovery Days: Wild World at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science will offer the chance to meet the storm chaser and scientist featured in their new film, Tornado Alley. You can watch the film, check out a real storm chasing vehicle, and even create your own perfect storm.

Saturday night (1/10) is a Totally 80's Night -A Night of Covers at the Granada. If you were the 80's version of a Goth and dug The Cure, you will love tribute "Le Cure" and The Gorehounds...a tribute to The Cramps.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will offer Paganini at the Meyerson Symphony Center tomorrow night (1/9).

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Grammy-Winning Percussion tomorrow night (1/9) at Bass Performance Hall.

You love the movie and now you can see it again on the big screen. Tomorrow night's (1/9) Midnight Madness at Inwood Theater is School Of Rock.

At Gas Monkey Bar and Grill tomorrow night (1/9), it is a British Invasion of sorts. See Rolling Stones tribute the Stoneleighs and Beatles tribute, Me and My Monkey.

The College Football Playoff National Championship's Playoff Fan Central is happening this weekend (1/9-11) at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. This deal is an interactive fan festival similar to the NFL Experience at the Super Bowl.

The official race of the College Football Playoff Championship, the Extra Yard 5K, is happening at Fair Park Saturday morning (1/10). The race features a 5K with a chip-timed, USATF certified course and a 100 Yard Dash for the kids. Runners also get one entry into a drawing to win two tickets to the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Also in celebration of the big game…the CMT Ultimate Kickoff Party Live tomorrow(1/9) night with Toby Keith / Lady Antebellum / Big and Rich / Brett Eldredge at the Dallas Convention Center. This 90-minute concert will be broadcast live on CMT if you don't feel like getting out of your sweat pants.

With all the talk of college football this week, this is fitting. Frisco's Sci-Tech Discovery Center celebrates the science of football in their new exhibit "Football". This 3,000 square foot exhibit introduces you to the science, mathematics and technology behind the game. And you just thought it was tight pants and shoving.

It doesn't matter if you don't dig football. If music is more your thing, you can still take part in the college football national championship game. Check out the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live Saturday night (1/10) at the AAC…featuring Lenny Kravitz.
