Tarrant Regional Water District Sued Over Election Terms
TARRANT COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) - The water supplier for nearly two-million people in North Texas is facing a new lawsuit.
The Tarrant Regional Water District got a bill passed in the legislature this year to change election dates for its board members. The change would effectively give a couple members, five-year terms. The state constitution though, says board members can only have four-year terms.
John Basham, a candidate who lost election to the board this year, filed a suit Thursday to stop the change.
The TRWD is still facing a suit alleging its board violated the open meetings act.
