Tarrant County Murderer Loses Clemency Bid
HUNTSVILLE (AP) - Condemned prisoner Cleve Foster has moved a step closer to execution scheduled for Tuesday evening with the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles refusing a petition to commute his sentence to life in prison.
The panel Monday unanimously rejected the clemency request from the 47-year-old Foster. He faces lethal injection in Huntsville for the slaying of a Sudanese woman abducted and shot after she met Foster and another man at a Fort Worth bar nine years ago.
Foster would be the third condemned Texas prisoner executed this year and the first to be administered a new drug in the nation's busiest death penalty state.
He also was charged but not tried for the murder of a second woman in Fort Worth.
