Super Bowl Hotel Bump Likely Temporary
A study by the Dallas Morning News indicates next year's boost in hotel occupancy caused by the Super Bowl is likely to be only temporary. According to the newspaper 150,000 Super Bowl fans are likely to come to DFW. The hotel industry believes that will mean about $80 million for its members as occupancy rates swell to near capacity, while room rates climb. However the Morning News says after the February 6 game, history shows occupancy and room rates are likely to return to the same levels as they were, although the study also acknowledges that in some cases in the past they were actually worse.
