FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Officials with the Keller Independent School District and the Fort Worth Police Department are investigating the case of after a man who attempted to kidnap a Hillwood Middle School special needs student.

The incident happened Tuesday morning along Parkwood Hill Boulevard, just down the street from the school.

Investigators said the suspect attempted to lure the girl into his black SUV several times by asking if she wanted to pet his puppy. "Supposedly the guy had a puppy, which is so enticing to these kids. Yeah, this is awful," stated parent Gina Emeneger, who is in favor of increased police patrols. "Maybe they should have more security or patrols, maybe around the school, around the morning time, than they have had in the past."

Described as a bald white male in his 30s, the suspect drove off when the student pointed her cell phone camera at him. The student ran into a daycare center less than 100 yards away from her school as the man drove off.

There were at least four similar abduction attempts reported in the area in 2014.

Police said that, if parents have not already done so, now is a good time to remind kids of how to deal with strangers.

"Run and scream and make as much noise as I can," said student Blake Barlow, "and if I can't do that, if he already gets me, just fight."
