Storm Update

We are still under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until Midnight.  Severe weather continues to roll across southern Oklahoma, 40 miles north of Montague County and 130 miles from the metro area.

 It is looking more and more that any storms will stay clear of the baseball game unless the game runs late.  The large cluster of storms in Oklahoma will be crossing into Texas around 10:30p and be in the metro area around midnight. We are expecting severe weather when they get into our area. Trending the movement of these storms would suggest they'll move east of the metroplex. However the surface dewpoints are higher to the west of the trajectory, sometimes this makes the storms develop to the southwest flank as they roll southeast. We are already seeing this in the last 30 minutes as the storms near Ardmore.

 Large hail and damaging winds are a concern. We will likely have severe thunderstorm warnings in place in north Texas by the 10pm show. Below is the latest short-range forecast model (the HRRR) at midnight. Notice how storms are knocking on the door of the metro:
