Storm Chances Linger On

-Storm chances creep a little closer to the metroplex

- Ozone Action Day with a forecast of unhealthy amounts of ozone in the atmosphere

- Cooler weather ahead by end of the work week

Saturday morning we awoke to find temperatures in the upper 70's still. It was the first August morning where the low was below 80°.

We keep the storm chances around for our Sunday. The same stationary front that triggered storms yesterday will drift a little closer to the metro area.  Coverage will be meager but these storms could again develop strong winds and brief heavy rainfall where they do develop:

The news gets a little better as we get to the mid-week. A through will develop over the eastern half of the U.S. allowing the high pressure dome that is parked over Texas to move west. This turns the upper level winds to the northwest and opens the door for frontal boundaries from the central plains to get into north Texas.

This means better storms chances (30%) and cooler temperatures for us (low 90's):

Given the drought conditions that dominate the state it is a welcomed sight to see rain stick around in an August forecast:
