DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – Cindy and Gary Anderson set out to start a small side business more than a decade ago, with the intention of funding their twin daughter and son's college tuition.
Now 12 years later, the last two of which have been at the State Fair of Texas, the Anderson's say their 'Pioneer Kettle Korn' business has taken on life of it's own.
Gary Anderson said, "This is very quickly becoming a larger part of my income."
Anderson says this year their popularity has soared at the State Fair and they have already served up thousands of pounds of Kettle Corn. His wife Cindy added, "I had no idea it would come out to be what it is today."
Both their kids are 24-years-old now and finishing up college. Now, the Anderson's are focusing on their retirement, and both say they are absolutely shocked at how their small experiment which was only started to help pay for their kids college can now fund their golden years.
Anderson said, "you can make some very serious money."
Their story is proof of how even a small business can generate big bucks at the State Fair of Texas.
