PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Parker County authorities are dealing with the discovery of a severely malnourished Great Dane.
At about 10:00 this morning, the dog named Grace, according to her microchip, was found wandering the streets of Millsap.
The person who found the dog, took her to a veterinarian for help.
The 2-year old dog should weigh between 90 and 100 pounds, but only weighs 52 pounds. Her ribs and hips are visible though her coat.
At some time, the dog had one eye removed surgically.
Sheriff Larry Fowler says they're looking for the owner, but the phone number listed on the dog's microchip is disconnected.
"Grace's state is deeply saddening," said Sheriff Larry Fowler. "She has been suffering for quite some time. It is terrible to see an animal in this condition. This is starvation in its worst form."
Anyone with knowledge of Grace's owners is encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office at (817) 594-8845.
