Some Wintry Weather For Christmas Eve

The much-advertised (and so far) well predicted winter mix remains in the forecast for tonight. Light rain and drizzle  will be mixed with sleet and snow grains around the metro area. This will go on overnight into Christmas Morning. A few flakes of snow are possible as well but no accumulation is expected. Temperatures will stay above freezing all night, dropping down to the mid-30's by daybreak.

A 1/2" to 1"  of snow is possible tonight just to the west of the metroplex, from a Bowie to Mineral Wells to Stephenville line. The roads there should be in good shape since amounts will be slight and surface temperatures will spend most of the night above freezing. The bridges and overpasses could suffer some minor icing by morning so drive with caution if you are out to Church or visiting family in that area.

CHRISTMAS DAY

A cloudy and cold day is in store for us. We'll awake to find more light rain/mix going on, enough to keep the roads wet likely. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper-30's warming to the upper 40's by afternoon. Winds will stay out of the north but stay around 10mph. The precipitation should start to pull away to our east by afternoon with even a few breaks in the clouds possible.

A WET MONDAY

Many of us have the day off on Monday, it looks like another wet day is in store for us. Clouds and rain around in the morning with temperatures in the upper-30's. There might be periods in the morning when the rain is mixed with sleet and snow. It should be all rain as the day wears on, highs are forecast to again get in the upper 40's.  There is again a chance for some accumulating snow in our western counties.

THE SHORT WEEK COUNTING DOWN TO THE NEW YEAR

We are going to dry out and warm up getting to New Years Eve. Highs on Tuesday should be in the mid-50's but south winds return after that. Highs on Wednesday will get near 60 degrees, we'll be in there and above for Thu-Saturday. Right now looking mild and dry conditions for the festivities on Saturday night.
