Some North Texans Waking to Subfreezing Temps

Thanks to clouds passing through our skies for most of the overnight hours, this morning wasn't as cold as it could have been.  DFW officially dipped to 43 degrees with Dallas down to 40 degrees.  However, readings dipped below the freezing mark across northern Tarrant County, parts of Denton County and for areas west of the Metroplex.  It hit 29 degrees in Flower Mound and 28 Bridgeport.

Today we will see nothing but sunny skies with mild temperatures a little shy of the average 68 degrees.  The clear skies for the overnight hours tonight will mean another morning waking up in the 30s with suburbs and rural areas possibly dropping to the freezing mark again Thursday morning.

Overall the pattern will stay quiet and mild through the weekend with cool mornings and comfortable afternoons in the 60s.  The next rain chances come in on Monday from a pair for storm systems currently along the West Coast.  The two systems will somewhat merge together, but remain disorganized as it comes in over the Inter-mountain West.  The net effect will be enough energy for rain and storm chances, but not a lot of instability.  The latest guidance suggests rain chances later in the day Monday and overnight.

Meanwhile, next week New England and parts of the Eastern Seaboard will be closely watching what the models are depicting as another possible nor'easter.  Most of the model guidance is keep the storm system well offshore and at this time looks to be a wind maker for coastal areas, but it may not produce much precipitation.
