Small Rain Chances and Mild Temperatures for North Texas
SMALL RAIN CHANCES AND MILD TEMPERATURES…
There have been some interesting developments in the weather in the past 24 hours. This developments lead to less rain chances for us in North Texas. Here is what has happened.
Last evening a cluster of thunderstorms that developed in the Trans Pecos area of SW Texas formed its own upper level low pressure system. This can sometimes happen with these large clusters of storms. This upper level low is situated to our south and is generating showers and thunderstorms across the Central part of the state. This upper level low will continue to slowly move eastward the next 24 hours. This will keep best rain chances to our south and east tomorrow. Below is a map showing where that upper level low is located as of 4pm and all the rain around it.
And then on Friday rain chances look low as there will be very little upper level energy coming over North Texas.
WARM WEEKEND…
After the small rain chances on Thursday and Friday, really warm weather for the weekend. Saturday will see temps in the mid 80s with mostly sunny skies and then on Sunday, temps climb into the upper 80s! I expect a high of 87 at DFW on Sunday with some areas in western sections of North Texas likely touching 90 degrees for a brief while Sunday afternoon. It will be windy on Sunday with winds out of the south/southwest gusting to 30 mph.
STRONG FRONT EARLY NEXT WEEK…
After that really warm day on Sunday, a cold front arrive Monday morning breaking back more seasonable temperatures. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday morning, but moisture appears to be limited so rain chances don't look terribly high. If the front were to slow down and arrive in the afternoon, we would likely see widespread showers and thunderstorms and potential severe weather. But as it looks now the front should slide thru Monday morning. Temps behind the front will be quite pleasant for the first and middle part of next week with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s.
