Warm Weather For The Rest Of The Week!
SMALL RAIN CHANCE TONIGHT… WARM WEATHER REST OF THE WEEK…
Cloudy skies and spotty drizzle have been with us most of the day. Clouds are thinning from Fort Worth to the west this afternoon. A strong upper level storm system is moving into the Central and Northern Plains. The main energy with this system will stay well to the north of Texas. This means for us we will be left with more spotty drizzle and possibly a shower as a weak cold front slides thru later tonight. There may be an isolated thunderstorm, but the best chance of that is up along the Red River north and east of Dallas.
A Severe Weather Threat will exist for areas of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and also parts of Missouri and Arkansas this evening and tonight. Here is a map of the severe weather risk. The yellow area is the area under the Slight Risk of severe weather. The green shaded area is where an isolated thunderstorm is possible but not likely to be severe.
WARM WEATHER NEXT SEVERAL DAYS…
Temperatures will warm into the mid 70s tomorrow and for the rest of the work week. Partly to mostly sunny tomorrow with a high of 76. Thursday will be our warmest day with a high of 80!
COLD FRONT ARRIVES ON FRIDAY…
A cold front with a little cooler air behind it will arrive on Friday. I still expect temps to make it into the low 70s on Friday, but on Saturday high temperatures will only be near 60 degrees. Which isn't bad for this time of year, but it will feel cooler. There may be a few showers east of Dallas on Friday with the front, but widespread rain not expected.
ONE OF THE WETTEST LA NINA WINTERS ON RECORD…
We have talked about how this winter is considered a La Nina winter because of the La Nina conditions in the Central Pacific. This is a cooling of the waters in that part of the Pacific. Typically that means Texas will have a drier and warmer winter. Well as we wrap up Meteorological winter (Dec, Jan & Feb), this winter has been the second wettest La Nina Winters on record. Here's the list…
