Small Plane Crashes; Two Dead
FREDERICKSBURG (AP/CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities say a small plane has crashed less than a mile from the runway of a Texas Hill Country airport.
The Texas Department of Public Safety was notified shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday that a Cessna 182 went down near Fredericksburg, about 60 miles north of San Antonio.
Fredericksburg city spokeswoman Juli Bahlinger says the aircraft crashed in a pasture near the city's airport. The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine plane had departed Spinks Airport in Fort Worth.
Justice of the Peace Louis Rech says both of those aboard, a man and a woman, were killed. He said no identities were available pending an autopsy.
Investigators for the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are en route to the scene.
The local medical examiner or JP will identify the victims and release names once notifications are complete.
