Severe Weather Update: Evening

We had a supercell move across Kaufman and Van Zandt counties earlier this evening.

Just to the west of Wills Point we had reports of baseball-size hail smashing out windows in cars in Edgewood. Here is a picture sent in from Roxanne Keene:

The supercell that also produced a few reports of funnel clouds is now well to our east in the Tornado Watch box for eastern Texas and Arkansas.

Sad to say our storm threat tonight is not quite over yet. We have the dryline stalled just east of downtown Dallas:

It is going to start to retreat back to the west and run into a Pacific cold front that is just to the west of it:

At the same time we have the best upper-air lift of the night coming in from the monster negative-tilted upper-level through:

If this enough to get another round of storms going they'll likely be in the metroplex and east. They could produce hail. We are watching it closely.

Earlier today when the dryline came over the DFW airport the dewpoint dropped from 70° (highest dewpoint of the season so far) down to the upper 40's in just two hours. They dry air warmed with the sunshine into the low 90's., the warmest day in almost the last 200.

It won't be that warm again for a while. Tomorrow will be breezy and in the mid-80's with low humidity. There will be dust from the west and the risk of grass fires.

We have a slight chance of showers Monday night as  a shock of cooler air moves in. This brings to an end our 9-day-run of 80°-plus weather. The upper level low that is producing the severe weather outbreak over Arkansas, Ok, and MO is going to take all week to drift to the Great Lakes

Highs on Tuesday in the 70's. Highs on Wednesday in the upper 60's after a morning low in the 40's. We are going to have some chilly mornings this week. THIS morning the low was a balmy 73° with those gusty south winds:
