SACHSE (CBSDFW.COM) -  Sachse Public Library has received a grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission that will provide educational resources for local children.

The $9,858 grant was used to purchase three highly-specialized computers and software. The purchase of the computers is one of 73 projects statewide made possible by a grant under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.

"The Early Literacy Stations target children from ages 2 to 8, and the Afterschool Edge computer is designed for students ages 6 to 14," said Library Manager Mignon Morse.

The software is easy to use and introduces young learners to age-appropiate multi-curricular content. The library said the use of the software has been shown to be effective in preparing children for school and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

More than 4,000 activities are included in the software; the content includes curricular areas that align with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
