Roma Downey Brings 'Angels' To Younger Crowd

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Millions of fans felt "touched by an angel" when they tuned into the top-rated drama "Touched by an Angel" in 1994, when it ruled the airwaves for nine seasons on CBS prime time. Popular star Roma Downey played the angel sent to Earth each episode, to help out the troubled and downtrodden as they navigated problems in their lives.

Downey's nine years on the series inspired her to bring the same messages of hope and faith to a younger audience. Now, Downey has a new set of animated DVDs and companion books just released for the preschool set. "Little Angels" is about young twins who bring important lessons and messages to families in colorful and positive ways, through its bright and fun animation.

Downey, a mother herself, said that she knows how challenging it is to raise responsible and thoughtful children, so she wanted to help parents with a DVD series that teaches not only simple ABCs, but moral lessons as well.

Downey said that she is still stopped almost daily by fans who miss the popular drama. She and co-star Della Reese -- who played her supervisor -- became good friends in real life. Downey said that she can relate to how passionate "Touched by an Angel" fans feel about the message of hope.

But Downey has not been idle since the show left CBS prime time in 2003, and reminded us that we can still see the Emmy-winning drama each and every day in reruns.

The "Little Angel" books and DVDs are also available in Spanish language versions, and can be found at Target and Walmart stores.
