17-Year-Old Arrested, Charged After Bringing BB Gun To Lone Star High School

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Reports of a student with a gun at Lone Star High School in Frisco sent some parents scrambling to find out what was happening at the school Wednesday morning.

The school was placed on lockdown and a lockout took effect in nearby schools as police investigated reports the student, identified as Gavin Frederick Golden was in possession of a gun on the school bus.

The incident was resolved an hour later when Frisco Police located and detained the 17-year-old in the area of Eldorado and FM 423.

The preliminary investigation led officers to believe that Golden exhibited a firearm on the school bus. The firearm was later recovered and was determined to be a BB gun that closely resembled a genuine firearm.

Golden was later arrested and charged with Exhibition of a Firearm, which is a 3rd degree felony under the Texas Education Code. A second student, who was with Golden at the time of the incident, was detained but later released as there was no evidence to support any involvement.

Social media reports that gunshots were fired and that students were injured are false.
