Record Heat Continues

The National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY in effect until 8pm tomorrow. This includes the metroplex and surrounding counties. The complete county list:

Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Dallas, Rockwall, Johnson, Ellis, Bosque, Hill, and McLennan.

Since the forecast calls for a rain chance of under 10% each day we'll not include a chance of much needed rain. 99% of the state of Texas is in drought. Tomorrow's high should hit about 102° with a south wind 10-15mph and mostly sunny skies.

The streak continues of 100 degree weather. We hit 102 today.

The numbers are now 22, 29, 5, 19… As in 22nd day in a row, 29th time this year, 5th on list of record consecutive days, 19th on the list of number of 100 days in a year.

Forecast tomorrow? Yes.. 100 degree weather. Same forecast for the next 7 days.

If indeed we hit the mark every day until NEXT Sunday (a week from tomorrow)  we'll end up 2nd on the all-time list of consecutive days of 100 plus weather. This run would have to go to August 13th to tie the all-time record of 42 days in a row set back in 1980.

If we finish out this month with 100 degree days:

We would also be 2nd on the list of number of 100 degree days in any one month. Back in 1980 EVERY day in July hit triple numbers. July 1st it was a mere 98° this year.

We would be 10th on the list of all time occurrences in any one year.
