Rangers Put Cruz On DL

The Texas Rangers today announced that outfielder Nelson Cruz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 15, with a strained left hamstring.
To replace Cruz on the active roster, the Rangers activated infielder Joaquin Arias from the 15-day disabled list. Arias will be in uniform for tonight's game at Tampa Bay.
Cruz sustained the injury running the bases in Saturday's game against Boston. It marked the third time this season he has been disabled with hamstring injuries, April 27-May 13 with a strained right hamstring and May 29-June 21 with a left hamstring strain. Cruz is batting .320 with 16 homers and 64 RBI in 77 games with the Rangers in 2010. Cruz had an MRI on Sunday, which revealed inflammation around the muscle in his hamstring but no tear.
Arias was placed on the disabled list on July 31 with a muscle strain in his back. He completed a four-game rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Saturday, going 3-for-16 with the RoughRiders. Arias is batting .275 with nine RBI in 46 games with the Rangers this season.
