Rangers Place Rapada On Release Waivers
ARLINGTON (AP) - The Rangers have put left-hander Clay Rapada on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
The Rangers' move Friday came after Rapada was designated for assignment Jan. 3 to clear room on the 40-man roster for pitchers Brandon Webb and Arthur Rhodes.
The 29-year-old Rapada made 13 relief appearances in September for the AL champion Rangers, and pitched three times in the AL championship series.
Rapada had a 1.82 ERA in 50 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
