Rangers Move Forward, Motivated By World Series Loss
ARLINGTON (AP) General manager Jon Daniels says the Texas Rangers are a "very motivated group'' heading into the offseason after their second consecutive season-ending loss in the World Series.
Sure, there are heavy hearts over how this season ended, in a seven-game series against St. Louis after twice being within a strike of winning the title in Game 6.
But Daniels said Monday that they can't let that take away from what's been accomplished the last few seasons for a team that had never even won a postseason series before last year's World Series.
The Rangers made their first offseason move Monday by exercising a 2012 club option on right-hander Colby Lewis. Left-hander C.J. Wilson is the team's most prominent free agent.
