ARLINGTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Josh Hamilton says the only significance of playing the Los Angeles Angels is limited to his return this week following a month on the disabled list.
Before Texas opened a three-game series against the Angels on Friday night, Hamilton said he had no emotions about facing the team that he played for the past two seasons. The former AL MVP says he has moved forward since he was traded to Texas on April 27, rejoining the franchise he led to a pair of World Series appearances.
The Angels traded Hamilton after an offseason that included shoulder surgery and a self-reported substance abuse relapse.
Hamilton says he worked as hard as he could with the Angels to be the player that he was in Texas.
Hamilton and other Rangers players will wear special gear for their Fourth of July game against the Angels. This is the first time all MLB clubs will wear special caps AND jerseys to celebrate the holiday. The net proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to Welcome Back Veterans, which provides grants to university hospitals throughout the country to treat veterans suffering from PTSD or traumatic brain injury. ark merchandise locations.
