Rain Chances and the Possibility of Isaac Bringing N. Texas Rain
SPOTTY SHOWERS AND STORMS THIS AFTERNOON IN NORTH TEXAS...
Isolated showers and thunderstorms continue to move thru parts of North Texas this afternoon. Coverage is not very high and any rain won't last terribly long. But expect more isolated storms to continue thru the evening.
Here is the radar from 2pm this afternoon.

HURRICANE ISAAC HAS A CHANCE TO EFFECT NORTH TEXAS...
Isaac continues to move toward the SE Louisiana coast. Landfall expected later this evening or overnight. Heavy rain and storm surge along with wind gusts to 95 mph will be the main threats.
LATEST MODELS SHOWING MORE OF A WESTERLY TRACK...
Yesterday most of the models showed Isaac staying well to the east of North Texas. That has changed with the latest run of models. Several more take it toward North Texas. This will not be a huge deal for us other than the eastern half of North Texas may get some rain from Thursday into Thursday night and Friday morning. Rain totals likely won't be high as most of the rain will be on the eastern flank of the storm. The one thing we will have to watch for is if the center of circulation were to track over DFW. Wherever that center is located Thursday night you can expect very heavy rain. No models have it this far into DFW, but for areas from Paris to Texarkana it is possible the center may be there Thursday night.
LATEST TRACK FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER...
Here is the official track from the National Hurricane Center. Let me show you the "GFS Model". The latest run here has Isaac slightly outside of the cone and more into North Texas. If this were to happen we would see some rain in eastern sections of North Texas and gusty winds to 30 mph on Thursday into Thursday night.
Now let me show you the "European Model". The model is a little west of the track but still in the forecast cone. This model keeps all the rain east of North Texas.
Any of these models are possible. The real tell will be later this evening. If Isaac starts a jaunt more west as it nears the coast we may see it push more into North Texas. If it continues to move NNW it will likely stay in Louisiana.
