Profar To Skip World Baseball Classic
CBS SPORTS -- Rangers infielder Jurickson Profar is baseball's consensus top prospect, but he will not represent his native Curacao in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports Profar has decided to pass on the event in an effort to win a big-league job in spring training.

Profar, who turns 20 on Wednesday, hit .281/.368/.452 with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases at the Double-A level last season. He made his big-league debut in September, taking Zach McAllister of the Indians deep in his first at-bat. Baseball America recently said "[few] prospects represent a safer bet to develop into a first-division regular and future all-star than Profar."
