Poll Shows Support for Casinos, Immigration Reform
A Texas Lyceum poll shows majority support for immigration reform and some new ideas to pay for the state's budget shortfall. Immigration and the economy are the two major issues facing the state according to a new poll done in part by UT pollster Daron Shaw says "economic conditions declined and immigration has risen a bit." Shaw says 55 percent favor an Arizona style immigration law for Texas. The poll also shows majority support for either civil unions or gay marriage in Texas, 40 percent oppose that. To close the budget gap legalizing casino's has the most support followed by taxing alcohol and legalizing marijuana and taxing it. 14 percent of people list that as their first choice.
