HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A woman has been arrested after authorities say she led police in Texas on a slow-speed pursuit in a stolen ambulance.

Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson said police received a call from the Houston Fire Department late Wednesday reporting that one of their ambulances had been stolen. Crowson said that the ambulance was tracked using GPS and that the driver refused to yield to law enforcement.

Police say the woman, who has not been identified, led police on a slow-speed pursuit until she gave up. According to Crowson, the woman said that she was trying to get away from her abusive boyfriend and the ambulance was the best vehicle she could find to get away from him.

Crowson said that the woman could face charges of felony evading and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Last year, a woman in Kemp was chased by sheriff's deputies after she stole an ambulance from a Kaufman hospital.
