Updated 6/2/12 4:36 p.m: Warren Mitchell with the Dallas Police Department says the suspect taken into custody was a 51-year-old man with a prior criminal history. Mitchell says police were called to the scene on account of the suspect being slumped over his car at the intersection of Hilcrest and Northwest Highway. When officers arrived the suspect began yelling at them. Mitchell says the suspect told officers "Kill me, kill me. You know that's that ya'll want to do". The suspect refused to show his hands to the officers. When the officers discovered the man had a criminal past they then decided to wait to take action towards the suspect until SWAT could arrive. Mitchell says after SWAT officers arrived the man surrendered. He was unarmed and could not show his hands because of a handicap.
