Woman Found After Home Invasion Kidnapping

DALLAS (CBSDFW) - Police in Dallas have located a 20-year-old woman who went missing early Wednesday after a home invasion robbery. The incident started at around 1:00 a.m. at a house along 9th Street in north Oak Cliff, near the Bishop Arts District.
According to law enforcement officials, the woman was inside of the home with her baby and grandmother when four thieves kicked down the door of their upstairs living space. The robbers began to take things from the home -- including a big screen television -- while the residents were inside.
Detectives believe that, in a rush to get away, the suspects dropped some of the stolen items in the street, less than one block away from the home. They were recovered. One of the suspects even left a gun behind at the home.
When police officers got to the scene, the grandmother and the baby were still at the home, but the younger woman could not be found. Officers began operating under the assumption that she may have been kidnapped.
"They just went on rambling around," recalled grandmother Esperanza Buckaloo. "By the time I realized it, I called out for my granddaughter. My granddaughter wouldn't answer me."
The woman was later released by the suspects at around 4:30 a.m. and called police from a gas station near the intersection of Interstate-20 and St. Augustine Drive, about 18 miles away from the north Oak Cliff home. Authorities said that she and other witnesses were not being entirely forthcoming in their statements.
Detectives are still investigating this case.
