Police Report Man With Gun At UTA Campus

The University of Texas at Arlington has issued an "All Clear" message to the campus. Activities will resume as scheduled.
Police at the University of Texas at Arlington reported a suspicious man dressed in Army fatigues with a gun on Wednesday morning. He was at the campus architecture building, however, it is not known if any shots were fired.
Students were told to shelter in place and avoid that area until further notice. The building was evacuated. Soon after, officials stated that the suspect was with police. "We responded to the location and began searching, made contact with that individual and he's currently detained," said Capt. Mike McCord with the UTA Police Department.
According to a preliminary investigation, authorities believe that the man was recording a video for a school project, however, he does not seem to be a current student at the Arlington university.
The suspect is now being interviewed by police has been cooperating with the investigation, McCord said.
There no longer appears to be a threat to the campus. Authorities are continuing to search the building as a precaution. Those not near the architecture building have been told to resume operations as normal. Many of the university's students are taking finals this week.
