Police Investigate Death Of Woman Found In Oak Cliff Home As Capital Murder
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police have arrested a man in the burglary at 6800 Putting Green where 73-year-old Penny Terk was found dead. They have charged Gary Anthony Sanders with burglary.
Police say he is a person of interest in the homicide of Terk, who was found in her Oak Cliff home Friday afternoon.
Relatives hadn't heard from Terk, a former teacher, occasional actress and book reviewer, since Wednesday. When her daughter went by Terk's home, which backs up to The Golf Club of Dallas, she he discovered the front door unlocked and the house ransacked. Terk's daughter called 911 and when police arrived, they found Terk dead in her bedroom.
Terk was well known in he Oak Cliff community as an eloquent public speaker, animal lover and had a website promoting various authors.
"She was such a wonderful and caring person, was giving to any human being, any animal. She was exactly the type of neighbor everybody wants," said Terk's neighbor Lisa Munoz.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's office has confirmed Terk was shot, stabbed and strangled.
